Travel Back to London:
At 6:00 a.m. we checked out of the Holiday Inn and took a taxi to the Dublin airport. We made it through security and customs without any trouble, and our RyanAir flight actually departed on time at 9:00 a.m.
More London Sites:
When we arrived in the London Stansted Airport at 10:30 a.m. we collected our luggage and took the Stansted Express train to King's Cross Station. We arrived in King's Cross at 11:30 a.m. and walked across the street to the John Dodgson House to check in for the week. After unpacking we met the whole group downstairs at 12:00 p.m. to go site seeing for the afternoon. We took a train to the Westminster Abbey area where we saw the Westminster Abbey, Big Ben the clock, attended a presentation by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, and toured the Winston Churchill Museum.
The presentation by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors was interesting because they are equivalent to the Associated General Contractors of America, and it allowed us to compare and contrast the views and regulations of the two organizations.
After the presentation we toured the Winston Churchill Museum which was created in Churchill's actual Cold War bunker where he conducted most of his work. The Museum as a whole follows Churchill's career as "Cold War Statesman" between 1945 - 1965, and begins with his appointment as Prime Minister in 1940.
Dinner:
After the Museum tour we went back to the John Dodgson House to rest until 7:00 p.m. From there we went to eat dinner as a group at a Thai food restaurant. We finished dinner at 9:30 p.m. and ate ice cream while walking back to the John Dodgson House.

Hurling Match:
We woke up the next morning at 10:00 a.m. to eat breakfast and work on our thesis presentations. After working for a few hours we watched the Dublin hurling match on TV which was very entertaining.
Dublin City Walk:
After the hurling match we started walking the river Liffey in Dublin. While walking along the river we stepped into a few gift shops to look around and explored the historical district of the city. At 7:00 p.m. we decided to walk back to the Temple Bar area to eat at the Elephant Castle restaurant again. After dinner we ate ice cream and walked back to the Holiday Inn to pack for the following morning flight to London.

We left the old Jameson distillery at 3:00 p.m. to go to the Guinness Storehouse. While in this building we explored the different exhibits which explained the Guinness beer making process.

After the Guinness Storehouse we went to eat dinner at a local cafe in the Temple Bar are. When we finished dinner at 7:00 p.m. we went back to the Auld Dubliner bar to watch the Dublin gaelic football match and Brian Brody sing again to celebrate the victory. After leaving there we went to a smaller local pub to listen to more Irish music. At 3:00 a.m. we went back to the Holiday Inn.

Leaving the Slums of Dublin:
We woke up at 8:00 a.m. with our bags still packed ready to leave the slums of Dublin. At 9:00 a.m we made someone meet us in the apartment to tell us what was going on, and we explained to them that we want to move to the original apartment or get our money back. Well she explained that they had overbooked the original apartments so we would have to get a refund. This was fine because we went to the Holiday Inn instead, and it was located in the nicer part of Dublin (South of the River Liffey).
South of the River Liffey:
After taking a taxi to the Holiday Inn, it was 1:00 p.m. and we were ready to see the city. We went directly to the Temple Bar area which was known for its pubs and restaurants. The walk took only a few minutes and we arrived at the Elifent Castle restaurant at 6:00 p.m. for dinner. After dinner we went to the actual Temple Bar which is one of the more famous bars in Dublin.

After leaving there, we went to the Auld Dubliner Bar to listen to Brian Brody. He is a well known Irish performer who only visits his hometown of Dublin to perform once a year. We left the Auld Dubliner at 2:00 a.m. and went back to the Holiday Inn.

Wetlands Project:
At 10:00 a.m. we took a bus(which was supposed to be there at 9:00 a.m.) to an Educational Wetlands project in Manchester. We arrived at the jobsite at 11:00 a.m. and attended a meeting to explain the the project's vision. After the meeting, lunch was provided and we began our tours of the construction area.
The project was being constructed to provide multiple learning environments to local students and tourist. One unusual element of the project was the fact that it was being constructed on a concrete/foam 120'x75' pontoon. This was being done to allow the building to float in the middle a lake, and it would also be able to elevate up and down in relation to the tidal water levels.
Travel to Dublin:
After the jobsite tour we returned to Lambert Hall to pack for our weekend trip and finally turn in our thesis projects. We took a train to the Manchester Airport and left on a RyanAir flight to Dublin, Ireland at 10:15 p.m. We arrived in Dublin at 11:00 p.m. and went to pick up keys for an apartment we rented. After picking up the keys we told the taxi drivers where to go according to the directions given to us by the rental agency and they started laughing. The drivers then explained that the address was located on one of the roughest streets in Dublin. We started questioning each other and wondering how this could have happened because the pictures on the internet were so nice. We eventually found out that an email sent to one of us 2 days before leaving for Dublin said that we were being "upgraded to a nicer apartment free of charge." Well that was not the case, and we were not going to let it stand. That night we made some friendly phone calls to the rental agency, and we actually ended up sleeping in our "upgraded" apartment with hopes of fixing the problem in the morning.

MediaCityUK:
At 8:30 a.m. we took a train to the MediaCityUK being building in Manchester. This is a city designed specifically around the media industry. It will extend to a fairly broad scope of professionals, but expect MediaCityUK’s population to include everyone from TV producers to computer game designers.
We arrived at the jobsite at 10:00 a.m. and began a meeting with one of Bovis Lend Lease's (Contractor) project executives who explained the purpose of the MediaCity. After the meeting we toured the perimeter of the jobsite and were able to ask on of the project superintendents questions along the way.
After the tour, we ate lunch at a nearby mall. At 2:30 p.m. we took a train back to Lambert Hall to work on thesis projects.
