By 3:00 p.m. on June 28, 2010 the entire group of Auburn University Building Science seniors and graduate students had arrived in London, England. We checked into our accommodations for the week at the John Dodgson House, purchased our cell phones, and began a walk through the city of London.
City Walk:
We began walking around 4:00 p.m. to better understand of our new surroundings. Our main destination for the walk was Trafalgar Square, which is a site of significant historical value in London.
From the Square you can see "Big Ben (as in the background above)," The National Gallery, and many other national monuments.
Horse Guard Parade:
After Trafalgar Square, we walked a few hundred yards South to the Old Admiralty building and the Horse Guards Parade yard. This area has been used for a variety of reviews, parades and other ceremonies since the 17th century. It was once the Headquarters of the British Army.
Pub:
Around 8:00 p.m. we left the Horse Guards Parade yard and walked through St. James Park to eat dinner at a local pub.
We finished dinner at 9 p.m. and walked back to the John Dodgson House to catch up on our sleep.
